Today I get to tell you all about the day I was born. After giving birth to me, my mom went to sleep. I got bored pretty quickly and went out to see the world. There were so many plants and animals and insects to discover, and the area around my mom's cave was filled with vibrant life. Eventually I came upon Apollo's pasture filled with his prized cattle. They were very fine cows, and I decided that I might want to borrow a few. I, however, was not stingy while picking out a 'few' of Apollo's best bovines, which ended up being fifty of them. I led them backwards out of the pasture, so that it looked like someone had led something in, but not out. I also attached sticks to my feet to disguise my tiny toddler toes and make it seem as though a giant had led something into Apollo's pasture. When I was out of sight, I sacrificed three of the cattle, and let the rest graze. While I was going back to my mom's cave, I found an empty tortise shell, and made a new instrument called the lyre.
After this, I went back asleep as if I had been there all along. Soon, however, I was awakened as Apollo stormed into our cave with a crazy notion in his head that somehow my little infant self had stolen fifty of his herd. Nope, definitely not me... Well Apollo didn't quite believe that and took my to Olympus to have me put on trial. Lucky for me, my brother was very fond of music, and when I took out my lyre and started to play it, Apollo offered to drop all charges in exchange for it. I even got to keep his cows! Now we are best buddies, and I haven't stolen since, even though I am the god of thieves.
